FAQ

Answers to some of our most commonly asked questions

Why “keys to manhood?”

We use the phrase “the keys to manhood” to describe the often missed transition our youth require–and often invent for themselves–to transition into adulthood. The self-appointed rites of passage are often self- (or other-) destructive. We believe that with the proper modeling and container for development, our young men can step swiftly into conscious generative masculinity.

Who is eligible for registration?

We’re open to young men between 12 and 17-years-old. But age is an imperfect metric. Ultimately, we’re looking for young men who are beginning to get in trouble or fall in love. These are key signs of transformation begging to happen. Seizing these signs and building the container of inspired transformation is essential.

Who is Rocky Mountain Rites and what’s your experience in leading these rites of passage?

We are a volunteer group of men dedicated to serving the community, the next generation, and the natural environment. We hold over 65 years of collective rites of passage facilitation experience, tallying more than 100 individual events. Yet, many of us are new to the work, passionate about men’s work and personal development and inspired to bring rites of passage to the next generation of men. Old and new, the team has been working together for over a year to cohesively build this event upon the success of last year.

How much does it cost and where does the money go?

The Rocky Mountain Rites production team is built entirely of volunteers who also pay to participate, sharing the costs equally with the young men. Thus, the cost is the total estimated expense divided by the total number of participants, young and old. Any overshoot in collection will be banked for future events.

Where is it?

The event will be hosted on private property in the woods of Colorado.

How many spots are there?

There are only 35 spots this year. If you are interested, act fast.

What happens after the weekend?

We encourage extended connectedness among the whole group. There will be opportunities to deepen the learning in future groups for those that participate. Stay tuned.
